Brass | Tuba
Cloyd became a member of the Manila Symphony Orchestra as a tuba player in 2011 and has performed with the orchestra in its gala concerts, special concerts, productions, and tours, including MSO’s first international concert tour in 2019, the 5th Hunhe River Bank Symphony Art Festival held at the Grand Shengjing Theater , Shenyang, China. In 2015, Cloyd was part of the delegation that played for the Holy Mass during the visit of Pope Francis in the Philippines.
Cloyd first learned to play the trombone in 1996 through his father, Gener Agtarap, a trombone player and conductor of Malabon Banda Pula Original, where Cloyd is an active member. When their band found itself without a tuba player, Cloyd was reassigned to play the tuba. He pursued playing the instrument and got his scholarship in Adamson University by being a member of the Adamson Band. Cloyd eventually transferred to University of the Philippines Diliman to study Diploma in Creative Performing Musical Arts under the tutelage of Cornelio Ramos and Jun Dela Peret.
Aside from his work in MSO, Cloyd is assistant conductor of Banda Pula Original Malabon City since 2014 and an active member of the Quezon City Symphonic Band since 2003. He plays basketball in his spare time.
